The blow of this recession has hit individuals on various degrees some have felt it more than others, however in Kaduna state the blow of  this recession has been felt the most. some families in Kaduna have already be forced to eat leaves so as to survive because of the rising cost of food items brought about by the current economic recession.
A youth leader identified as Mallam Hassan Ahmed Rufa'i said leaves such as ''TAFASA'' also known as spinach had become the next best option for consumption to survive this recession. it has come to the aid of families whom are starving, lizards and cats are on the verge of becoming an endangered specie because of the rate at which they are hunted for food. numerous number of children in Kaduna state have been seen hunting them down to provide a cheap source of protein for their families.
Mallam Rufa'i has expressed his dissapointment in the well to do and top political office holders who reside in communities around Kawo, Ungwan Doso, Hain Banki and Ungwan Kanawa, saying they possess the capability to assist the poor in their mist but rather could not be bothhered by the sufferings of their fellow Nigerians.
He further commented that '' some of them have gone on Hajj for the umpteenth time'', while the money they lavish on their trips can be used to buy food and feed numerous people. Hajj is incumbent upon a muslim, once in a life time, if the person can afford it he emphasied. Mallam Rufa'i added that '' rice and maize as well as other staple food items have become as precious as gold, which only the rich and affluent people can afford, many of the people now feed on leaves''. we pray that the government comes to our aid and provides free feeding centers.
He challenged people in authority to explain how the food items donated to the state by Hajiya Aisha Buhari, were disbursed. The youth leader narrated his ordeal of how '' the other time he saw some children chasing a big agama lizard. when asked what they were doing they said they want to kill it to roast it, because roasted lizard is sweet, they also said cats are not spared either because it is also a delicacy''.
He further said that people are suffering hunger is everywhere, if you go to Masjid you will see people begging for money to buy food. go to Hospitals, you will see children whom are highly mal-nourished and in need of medicare and doctors insist that its either malaria or typhoid that is their ailment.
